Prompt C: Diffusing Essential Oils

Essential oils are trending these days. They are praised for their various health benefits and wonderful scents. These oils can be ingested, inhaled, and/or applied topically.* This how-to guide will show you how to diffuse essential oils using the Lumiere Glass Essential Oil Diffuser, however, the basic steps apply to many other brands of diffusers.

Materials
Lumiere Glass Essential Oil Diffuser
Essential Oil(s)
Water
Cup
Disassemble Diffuser
1. Remove the outer glass case from the rest of the diffuser to expose the inner tube and
funnel-shaped cap. (See Figure A.)

2. Remove the funnel-shaped cap from the inner tube. (See Figure B.)

Load Diffuser
3. Fill a cup with about 6 ounces of water.
4. Pour the water into the inner tube until the water level reaches the “Max” line.
(See Figure C.)

5. Pour 3-4 drops of your chosen essential oil into the inner tube.
Note: Try adding 3-4 drops each of additional essential oils.
Assemble Diffuser
6. Place the funnel-shaped cap on top of the inner tube.
7. Place the outer glass case on top of the inner tube and cap. (See Figure D.)

8. If a cord is not already attached to the diffuser’s base, plug the small end of the cord into
the base. (See Figure E.)

Start Diffuser
9. Plug the other end of the cord into an outlet.
10. Press the start button to diffuse essential oil(s) into the air. (See Figure F.)
Note: One press = continuous mist; two presses = intermittent mist

Stop Diffuser
11. Press the start button a third time to shut the diffuser off.
Note: The diffuser will shut off automatically when water decreases to a certain level.
*Consult your essential oil’s guidelines for proper usage.
