Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my site. My name is Diana Faruqui (pronounced Fuh-roo-key). I recently graduated from the University of Central Florida with a major in English (Technical Communication). I already have degrees in Graphic Design and Studio Art (Photography) and was able to put them to some use in my previous career in PR/Communications for my church. Though unplanned, I am increasingly seeing the overlap between all three degrees, and I believe this can be an advantage. However, my current passion is copy editing and technical writing, and I hope to be of superb service in those fields someday.

EMPLOYMENT

2009-2014

Sales Associate

2022

Course Assistant

UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA

I was recruited by two of my English professors to help redesign the online versions of ENC 3241: Writing for the Technical Professional and ENC 4265: Writing for the Computer Industry. Tasks: offered recommendations, compiled useful content, enhanced course organization, copy edited, and more.

2010-2020

Communications & Administrative Assistant

CHRISTIAN LIFE CENTER

During my 10 years at CLC, I wore multiple "hats." Earlier years had me doing administrative tasks (i.e. registering adults for theological courses) for various ministries. In later years, I had the role of Communications Assistant.

Tasks: created graphics for both print and digital media for a church of over 1,000 attendees, edited weekly church bulletin, facilitated distribution of bulletins by leading a team of 15+ older adults each week

COACH

The most important thing I learned from this job was exceptional customer service--going the extra mile for the customer.

Tasks: sold higher-end handbags and accessories, operated the cash register, kept stockroom tidy, wrapped sold items according to strict standards

2007-2008

FIRST SOURCE MEDICAL RESOURCES

Data Entry Clerk, Receptionist

This was a summer job in an unfamiliar field that increased my attention to detail and my discipline to do tedious, repetitive work.

Tasks: answered phone, kept records of medical coding

2006

Sales Associate

JCPENNEY

This was a seasonal job while I was off from college. The seemingly unimportant, yet useful, practice of keeping things tidy was enhanced.

Tasks: sold lingerie, kept fitting room tidy

2005

Sales Associate

NATURALIZER

This was a seasonal job while I was off from college. This store attracted an older demographic, so I was able to learn how to communicate more effectively with them.

Tasks: sold higher-end shoes, operated cash register

2003-2005

Library Assistant

SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY

This work-study job allowed me to practice keeping things organized.

Tasks: shelved books, completed minor front desk tasks

2004

Cashier

THE DOLLAR TREE

I see this as a time when I learned how to maintain respect towards authority in the midst of a tense atmosphere.

Tasks: operated cash register
